As
you likely know, vehicles depreciate in value right from the moment you first
drive them off the lot, and some do so more than others. This depreciation
contributes, in large part, to what financial analysts refer to as total cost
of ownership. A term that more and more car buyers in Bend
and beyond are recognizing, the people at Kelley Blue Book have opted to assist
by releasing a list of the specific vehicles and brands that boast the lowest
total cost of ownership.
In
the individual vehicle segments, a wide range of automakers took home awards
for their various models. And while Team Kia of Bend is thrilled to
see that the 2012
Kia Soul was honored in the "Compact Car"
segment, we're absolutely ecstatic to see that Kia, as a whole, has been named
as the overall brand sporting the lowest total cost of ownership.
Of
course, the fact that we're happy to see this doesn't exactly mean that it
surprises us. See, in factoring total cost of ownership, there's more to
consider than simply vehicle price and depreciation. There's the matter of
service and
repair costs, fuel economy, and build quality to consider
as well, and Kia excels in all of these departments too.
"Car
shoppers should take the time to compare vehicles on their consideration lists
to fully understand the financial implications involved with cost of
ownership," confirms Juan Flores, director of vehicle valuation for Kelley
Blue Book. "While a vehicle might
be less expensive up front, the cost of fuel for that model, insurance and
other expenditures could make it the less appealing choice for their wallet in
the long run."1
Of
course, it's also worth noting that driving a new Kia
won't only save you money, it will make you look good doing it, when you're
behind the wheel. Of course, we also realize that this may be something that
you need to see for yourself. And that's why we at Team Kia of Bend invite you
to our lot, conveniently located at 611 NE Purcell Blvd Bend, OR 97701
for a test drive.
