Kia Motors America has many
ties to the LPGA (Ladies Pro Golf Association), from sponsorships, to
"Official Automaker of the LPGA" and serves as the "Official
Tournament Vehicle" of eight events for the sport. That is quite the bond
between the automaker and the sport. As
the result of an ever increasing audience (both at the events and on
television), Kia made a calculated move to get involved with
the sport. This year, the winners of the third annual Kia Classic event, will
be competing for a $1.7 million purse, which breaks down to first place earning
$255,000 and one of the first 2012 Kia Optima Limited
vehicles to be produced this year.
Not only will Kia be a part of
the money and donating cars, but it will also present several awards at the
CME Group Titleholders event in November 2012. The winner(s) of the Kia
Performance Award also get to take home a new Kia Optima
Limited. Chosen by you, the fans online, the Kia Most Compelling
Performance Award intends to recognize a player than contributed to community
programs/organizations and has had exceptional performance throughout the year.
Other awards include the Kia Power Drive Award, which as you probably guessed
is awarded to the player with the longest drive, and the Kia Drive to the Top
Award, which recognizes a player with the most Top 10 finishes in this year's
tournaments.
