Why You Might Want to Think Twice About Driving Those Winter Tires All Year Round

Warm weather requires you to perform some routine vehicle maintenance in order to get ready for the summer ahead. Aside from getting your oil changed, you're going to want to make sure that you have your tires changed from the winter set to your all-season or summer set. It's tempting to keep those winter tires on all year, but there are disadvantages to doing so.

When tire manufacturers make a winter tire, they use a very specific tread pattern that is designed for keeping you safe when the temperatures are cold, and ice is on the ground. This tread pattern doesn't work as well when the temperatures outside are hot.

You can wear your winter tires down faster when you use them all year. Buying tires is expensive, so you'll want to stretch that time frame as long as you can.
